3AM (Three Ageless Minds), a musical trio features Susan Walton(Vocals, Guitar, Electric Bass), Dave Werden (Mandolin, Dobro, Vocals) and Zoe Werden (Keyboards, Electric Bass, Vocals). Their journey began in early 2010, when at a Western Slope of Colorado NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association, International) chapter meeting; Dave and Zoe were impressed by the original work that Susan had been sharing with the group. She was preparing material for her upcoming CD project (Summer 2012 release date). Knowing that she wanted local musicians to play on the CD, she asked if Dave and Zoe would be interested.
Susan, Dave and Zoe began working on Susan’s original songs and to help keep the “edge”, they booked gigs in local venues which were received with favorable reviews. “Fantastic Sound”, “Great Energy”, “Interesting Mix of Songs.”
3AM has an eclectic mix of tunes, spanning several genres, Folk, Blues, and Americana. Their creative blend of influences brings passion and depth to their music. The lyrics of their original works are connected and present picturesque imagery while the melodies are grounded with a rooted beat that stirs emotion and audience participation in their listeners.
On stage, 3AM has a unique sound with Susan’s earthy lead vocals, compared to Carly Simon, Natalie Merchant or Rikki Lee Jones complemented by Dave’s intricate mandolin riffs. Zoe adds a contemporary folk feel in the style of Judy Colins and Joni Mitchell, with complex and sometimes whimsical keyboard arrangements and solid Bass lines.
3AM is a crowd pleasing ensemble that enjoys sharing their original songs, as well as interesting arrangements of covers, with their audiences.
